Door Murals at the Ultimate Picture Palace.
I was commissioned to paint a mural on the two interior doors of the Ultimate Picture Palace in Jeune Street, Oxford.
The cinema-goers leave the cinema after watching a film, they were exiting via the fire exit door instead of turning to their right and going through the required exit door, so my brief was to make it obvious which door they should use. I decided to go for an Art Deco style to fit in with the cinema’s existing style with a film noir theme. The murals have been there since 2012 and I have just had to retouch a bit once but they are wearing well.

Masking areas off before spray painting the frosted glass.
I painted figures in acrylic paint which I then sprayed over to make them look like they were seen through frosted glass.
Part of the brief was to make the door look like the proper exit, to stop people going out via the fire door.
