about
I am an illustrator and I live in Oxford, UK
I use pen and ink to produce original illustrations. I use these to make prints and useful everyday items and I also accept commissions.
I am also a ceramic artist and I make illustrated bowls, small sculptures all of which are hand made and not mass produced.
In 2024 I finally found myself in the position to be able to devote the time required to be a self-employed illustrator again and started this new chapter of my artistic life in September 2024.
I spent the previous 9 years developing my illustration work in my sketchbooks and the last 3-4 years taking part in the Inktober drawing challenge which really helped me to build my new body of work and develop my style. During that time I had a stall in a couple of Christmas art fairs each year, and gradually increased this over the last 2 years. .
I now regularly attend art markets and fairs with my art wares all year round in Oxford and further afield. You can find out which events I have coming up in my ‘events’ section.
I have started accepting commissions and if you would like to discuss the possibility of a commission then please email me and we can talk about what is possible.
January 2025 I have been working at the Mess Makers after-school art club at Cornerstones Arts once a week, where I plan and deliver the fun art workshops for primary aged children.
2016 - 2024 I worked as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant in a primary school in Oxford. I regularly taught classes and also planned and led the after school art club there for the last year of my employment there.
2013-2016 I worked with a company called Mini Media who provided after-school art clubs in primary schools. I taught the after school art club once a week for them in a primary school in North Oxford for two and a half years and also worked at that time for their holiday clubs as part of their team.
2005-2013 I was a freelance illustrator. I did a wide variety of work in that time, from educational illustrations, logos and branding for small businesses, promotional calendars and illustrated books for children about migratory birds for Natural England.
1996-2005 I worked as an illustrator full-time in the packaging design company IBH Group Ltd in Chipping Norton producing visuals, concept artwork and finished artwork in my time there, using traditional and digital methods of illustration.,
1990 I started creating animals and quirky objects from paper mache and sold my art at art/craft fairs and retail establishments in Oxfordshire, London and Yorkshire amongst other places.
2008-2015 I was represented by a gallery at the London Affordable Art Fair in Battersea where I sold my large papier maché animals and my Birds on Biscuits range of paper mace sculptures. Some of these can be viewed in my retrospective section in the footer below.
1990 - 1995 I sold my papier maché work in a concession in Harvey Nichols in London and one of my creations was used to advertise the homeware/gift department on the side of the Routemaster buses on the run up to Christmas 1994.
