Arthur the tortoise

This was a very early project. It is a model of a friend’s tortoise who is called Arthur.

The shell lifts off the underside. I lost quite a lot of the texture on the shell as I was very new to pottery and I fired it on stoneware and the underglaze melted. But I like the mark making and the texture on the legs and head and I want to do more of this sort of thing.
